Overstimulation Equals Money Saved, Not Spent

I went to the mall last night and hated it.

Why am I surprised? Every time I go to the mall I hate it. Which may help explain why I haven't been to a mall in two years.

It's a combination of overstimulation and expectations destroyed.

I think to myself, The mall will have a bigger selection. Which is true, to a point. But not a larger selection of what I am looking for, which is just reasonably priced, modest and classy clothing.

Most of all, I hate weaving through the thick throngs of people amid the noisy music and the bad lighting.

But there was one thing I saw that actually brought a smile to my face. True, it was because of its disgusting absurdity. But I giggled a little and took a picture on my phone.
HOW is that mannequin supposed to make me want to step inside that store???

And where does everyone else go to shop for clothes?
Target ain't doin' it for me no mo'.

I agree with you about the mall. I never walk out with anything but a headache! I live Ross, TJ Maxx, Old Navy and Kohls. Good selection without stupid slumping mannequins.

I meant "love" not live-- though Jack probably thinks I'd live in those stores. :)

Honestly the only shirts I wear are from Down East Basics and you can buy those online if you want to. They are long and modest OH and I usually tuck the cami into my pants just because I feel more comfortable with that, I hate having anything show so.....BUT yeah thats what I love and they have come out with pants and skirts and everything its pretty great! :)

I'm a mall hater too-- it makes me feel poor, fat, and ugly every time.

I'm a thrift store lover-- but I usually online shop for particular items that I need and can't find there (or don't want to buy from a thrift store: lingerie, swimsuits, etc.)

I'll bet the thrift stores in your
neck of the woods are awesome. Does Los Altos have a Goodwill or Salvation Army store? With so many rich people there, I'll bet you'd find some killer stuff.

Haha! That mannequin is funny! I'm not sure what makes me want to laugh more -- the clothing ON it or the posture??? I saw a kid today at church with a total 80's tie on -- complete with squares of different flourescent colors! Loving it!

Are those mannequins from Forever 21? Cause if they are, I love that store. :)

hee, hee. i thought the same thing as "kelsey." forever 21 is a great store to find stuff for a reasonable price. you have to get over the weird stuff they display, but i can always find a whole host of stuff that is fun, modest and inexpensive. charlotte russe can sometimes be like this, too. it's funny, though. i used to be all about volume--getting a lot for my money. but now, i'd much rather save up my pennies and get the absolutely perfect item (without getting too ridiculous on the price--of course i still have a limit.) and for these kinds of purchases i choose the limited, urban outfitters and banana republic (clearance section).

this makes it seem like i go shopping all the time, but i haven't been in ages!

good luck.

Ask me in 20 lbs because I guarantee I'll be looking around since I fo' sho' ain't looking now.

We need to make a Gilroy trip sometime just to look at clearance racks. And with a friend, the time spent driving to and from is justified as "hanging out" time, hahaha.
