Camera Advice

We need a new camera so bad. I hate how our pictures have been turning out lately. Our Canon PowerShot is dying, and it is not doing so gracefully. We're thinking about getting me an iPhone for everyday picture taking, and upgrading to an SLR for special photos. We don't really know what we're doing. So... I'm seeking recommendations/advice. What kind of camera should we get? We don't want something incredibly big and heavy, but we want great quality photos. What cameras should we be looking at? Please give us a direction to head in our camera research!

First, I can't believe your baby is one already!!!! Time is going too fast!! Infant our little girl turns 3 tomorrow!! ( Tear)

Anyway, I have a Nikon d3000 and I love it!! It is simple for a beginner, but can do all kinds of things when you get the hang of it. Infant, nick is getting me a new lens for my bday and I'm stoked. (nothing is wrong with the one I have, I'm just ready for some more features). I am going to start taking a photography class in a week and hope my pictures get better, but the camera takes pretty good pictures even if your not great with a camera. Downside...it is big and bulky. No other cons that I can think of. Nikon is a good brand.

I have a Canon txi Rebel. I love it.

I think you should get whatever SLR camera is on feature at costco. That way if something happens to it within a reasonable time, or if you decide you don't like it, you can return it & get your money back. :-)
