Easter was super low-key this year. It was Saturday afternoon before we thought to color eggs. I didn't make a special holiday dinner. We went to our ward's egg hunt at a mini-golf course and that's all the egg hunting we did - no hidden baskets at home. Kind of sad. But I was working really hard to teach Hazel about the Jesus aspects of Easter and didn't feel like distracting her with the rest of it all. Maybe next year we'll get back into the fun of it all. We made
Resurrection Rolls for breakfast on Sunday and I loved how as Hazel helped me make them, she was tangibly thinking about Jesus' body going in the tomb, and then no longer being there. I do think we were successful in having a spiritual Easter.
Hazel's first time mini-golfing. It was pretty awkward.

Way to go, resurrection rolls? That sounds really neat. We'll have to try something like that next year. I have to say, until I was a parent, I didn't realize how difficult it was to teach the real reason for holidays (Easter and Christmas) and also have fun with the secular celebrations. It wasn't until the night before the ward egg hunt that we told Spencer about the Easter bunny, and I think he was pretty confused about the whole thing ... how in the world does that relate to what we've been talking about with the resurrection? Anyhow ... kids are amazing and somehow can mange to juggle it all. :)
We had a low key one as well, no Easter dinner - we had pasta and homemade bread and played with spencer's new baseball and bat for a long time in the front yard. Kind of a different Easter, but we had a great time and like you said, focused more on Christ and it was just great.
See you guys tomorrow!
I think it's awesome that you had the kids focus on the Savior for Easter. That is how it is supposed to be!! Your such a good mom!
