The Alabama Haircut

Well, I'm definitely not in love with it, but it's undeniably better than before. I was going to do side and back shots, too, but I couldn't bring myself to post them. It's only cute from the front.
I brought several pictures with me, and told Max, the stylist, I wanted my hair cut like this:Max had his own ideas. He was definitely a skilled stylist, but he also had strong opinions - particularly about women keeping their husbands happy by having long hair. He kept saying, "Let me show you what options you have, since your hair is long," and "You can always come back and get it cut shorter when you're ready for a new look again." He did a good job, but he did not do what I wanted. I'm a pushover, and gave in since I'd already been slowly persuading him to go shorter and shorter for over an hour and was tired of it. I forked over the money, and am relieved that in three months I can try a stylist in another state.

the layers look cute. I hate it when stylists don't do what you want, even when you bring a picture. I brought a picture of a layered cut once, and I ended up leaving with bangs and no layers. I never went back!

Breathe a sigh of relief, girl-- your hair looks cute! I do have to agree it's a huge pain when stylists don't do what you want.

Your hair looks good! What is it with people thinking husbands like long hair?! I can't stand it when people say that.

I think it is darling! In 3 months are you visiting somewhere or are you done in Alabama?

I think it is really cute! But why Meg Ryan? why not Carla Gugino? Just kidding, I don't even know who that is but I hear she has good hair? Anyway, The Do is delightful and frames your face wonderfully- on so many levels...

It looks great! I think any haircut would look great on you, but it totally stinks when you don't get what you want.

I think it looks amazing,.. I recommend the hidden clipper over on canyon drive across from heleman halls. It's a little hidden hence the name but I think they did a great! job on my hair. It's been around for a long time though apparently. A friend of mine recommended it to me. And I have to say, it's not the most modern kept up place on the planet and has low staffing, (3 stylists) but they did a good job on my hair and when I said to go short they asked me if they had my husbands permission, then when I said I did that was the end of it. I can understand why they do because some husbands are real crackpots and go yell at the stylist like it's their fault their wives wanted to go short or something. Some men just don't know how to love their wives for their personalities and desired rather than the length of their tresses.

i think it looks great, but i completely understand your frustration with a stubborn stylist. it's like, remember that i'm paying YOU and i want what i want, not what YOU want!!!! grrr...and who says guys only like long hair? if that were true, kris never would have asked me out!

OK, this same thing happened to me when I wanted to cut my hair short - the stylist basically refused to do it - so I ended up going back 3 weeks later and asking him to do what I had originally asked for. Brian was sure that he only insisted on the long hair because he knew he would get me to pay for another hair cut.

Anyway, it actually looks good!

I think it's VERY cute! I just got a long-overdue haircut too! I knew it was time when one of my piano students complimented me on how "uneven" it was. (I cut it myself last time... you guys have had enough experience with my at-home haircutting skills to get an idea.) I had the same result - the stylist doing a little of whatever she wanted - and it's kind of so-so, but I guess anything is an improvement over how it was!

Darn that was Krista again. The FIRST Travis to respond was the real Travis.
