Today is the big day. Is The Bean a boy or a girl? Todd and I had made a plan ahead of time that we would go out for lunch to celebrate after the doctor's appointment. If the baby is a boy, we would get ribs at TGI Friday's. (Mmm, ribs! Manly!) If it is a girl, we would get sandwiches and fruit salad at Atlanta Bread Company. (Such a "girl's day out" location.)
I had to drink 32 ounces of water just on the drive over to our appointment. Let me tell you, that was a task! It's one thing to guzzle 16 ice-cold ounces when you finish a workout (that I can do in a snap). It's something else entirely to force yourself to keep drinking as the water gets warmer, and your stomach starts to bulge out like a drum, and you're so far from thirsty. I've heard horror stories about dying with the need to relieve yourself during the ultrasound, and am delighted to report that I was able to maintain my composure quite well until afterwards.
This was the first doctor's appointment Todd's been able to make it to, so it was pretty cool to watch him watch the ultrasound machine. It's just different being there in person than it is reliving it on the TV at home. Our baby is so sweet! Long arms and legs now (not buds any more), and we could see such a good profile - a sweet nose and upper lip jutting out.
The technician had a tricky time finding out the gender for us. The Bean was pretty shy, and wanted to keep his/her legs together . The lady kept jostling my stomach around with the ultrasound stick to try and make the baby move around. But eventually we did get some pretty clear shots, and so here is what we had for lunch.....
THE BEAN IS A GIRL!!!

btw, I can't believe you had to drink all that water. I'm grateful my doctor's office didn't make me do that, I probably would of peed my pants!
Yippee!! I should add that she's got a lovely profile, which is quite a feat to pull off in an ultrasound. Both my boys had more of a resemblance to tiny aliens than to cute babies.
Congrats I'm so excited for you, I just remembered this afternoon that you had gone to the doctor to see what you were having and I immediately checked your blog to find out. I think everyone should have a least one little girl. Girls are so much fun. I know your going to be a great mom. Congrats once again!

Congrats! I gotta admit, I thought it was a boy. You're one of the few pregnant ladies I know who's having a girl - lucky you!
Angie! YAY!!! Now i'll have four little nieces close! I'm so lucky! lol! You and Todd are going to be great parents, and that little girl's gonna be the most beautiful little thing ever!! I was totally banking on a boy...luckily i didn't take any bets or i'd be paying some bucks! :D CONGRATS!!!

dreams don't lie...it's been a girl for sure. how fun for you. we seem to like girls around here, too. hee, hee. by the way, i remember we had a discussion about a girls' name you liked. did we talk about libby as a potential nickname for it? i know an eleven-year-old girl right now who was elizabeth, but her family calls her libby and it (and she) are so cute...

CONGRATS ON THE GIRL! And what? Why did you have to drink so much water? Did they tell you to? I've never had that happen. Anyway girls are the best. Well maybe not necessarily but I like them a lot. :) It is nice to have a girl first because she can help you with the little ones still to come! PS it's KRISTA again and not the real Travis. Although he likes our baby girls too and is also happy for you guys.
