"Keep Me Even!"

I've got a slight obsessive-compulsive tendency to be even. It has plagued me my whole life. I remember walking home from elementary school concentrating on taking three steps in each sidewalk square- whether or not the square was the appropriate size for three steps - so that my left and right feet would get equal opportunity to walk behind and in front of the sidewalk cracks. When I passed a crack that was especially big or thick, I had to walk in place for a couple of steps to give both feet equal opportunity.

I've still got it. When Todd kisses my neck, I make him kiss the other side, too.

Something happened today that makes me wonder if Hazel may have inherited this trait from me. (Heaven help her.) Both of her bottom front teeth broke through her gums.

It pleases me to think they will probably grow at a similar rate and be even in her mouth, instead of one being taller than the other. Am I crazy?

I don't know if crazy is the word I would have chosen.

I do the same thing when stepping on cracks. When I was younger I would divide my gum in 2 pieces and chew one per side of my mouth. We are the same kind of people, Angie Q.

I also had to have the same number of steps per square. But not because it had to be fair for my feet, rather because I didn't think I was walking regularly if I had unequal numbers of steps in the seemingly equal spaces defined by the cracks in the cement. I just ASSUMED something was wrong with me, not the concrete if the number of steps per square changed. Freaks are the best kinds of people.

yeah - hazel has teeth! they looked really close last week -- now her smile will be even more contagious! I guess you better have an even number of kids too ;)

No - you are not crazy. And I think you should just think this trait comes from you rather than that teeth typically erupt both of the bottom at the same time. :) Love your guts! And all of your crazy quirks!

Good thing teeth come in sets, otherwise the Bonner house would be upside down.
