Sticking with tradition (see here and here) we planned to go out to eat to celebrate after finding out if the baby's a boy or a girl. Hazel has been totally gunning for a sister since she found out I was pregnant, because she "already has a little brother." But when we told her we'd get sandwiches and salads and cheesecake if it was a girl, and steak if it was a boy, she totally switched teams! That girl loves her red meat.
She only slipped once in the past three days. Last night, she put her hands on my belly and said she hoped the baby was a girl. Then she said, "Wait, I mean I want it to be a BOY! Because I really, really want to eat steak!!!" She had a major short term/long term battle with herself this week!
And so, it is quite funny to announce that Hazel was seriously disappointed to find out that the baby is a....
GIRL!
We celebrated at The Cheesecake Factory. I had my favorite food, a chicken salad sandwich (and an enormous salad that will mostly be tomorrow's lunch). The kids had sliders and corn dogs - kid food doesn't really count. Todd had an Asian cashew chicken salad. (Also, he never seems to know what to look at when I take his picture...)
We finished it off with a knock-out divine German chocolate cheesecake.
We are stuffed, and pleased.

I love that tradition, what a cute idea.
So glad Hazel is getting a little sister, Macey is jealous. Luckily though she's adjusted to having 2 little brothers and has quit talking about how we got the wrong baby. :)
Congrats!! So excited for you. Love little girls!!
CONGRATS!! We are (obviously) very pro-pink here at Chez Rose. Except Ruby-- she id DAILY telling me that she needs a little brother. And reminding me that I will have another baby and it will be a boy. It's probably causing some MAJOR gossip at Church, because she is phrasing it like I am pregnant. Oh well- congrats to your family.
What a fun tradition. I'm sure Hazel will adore having a sister. I know for me there has been nothing better. And I have 4. I was just thinking.... man I would be really stuffed if I ate boy and girl food. :)
That is such a cute tradition, and so fun to do it with your kids too!
And that is hilarious that Hazel changed her mind just to get some red meat in her body. So funny! I didn't know she was such a steak girl. Next time we do swaps we'll have to do steak for dinner. :)
And of course, you look so cute. Congrats on the next little girl! Maybe we can hook these two up and have double weddings in our families. ha. :)
Haha, maybe Hazel can happen to get steak for dinner on another fun occasion soon :-) I think in the long run, she will enjoy having a sister despite the salad ramifications.
